Another Round of Adventures in Microsoft Incompetence
One of the first adventures at PracticingMusician as their shiny new CTO, was migrating them from Godaddy's Microsoft 365 Tenancy to Microsoft's. They had been trying for several months and been getting nowhere, so I rolled up my sleeves, dusted off my MCSE (never expires) from 1998 knowledge and experience, and dug in. Here are some highlights from the adventures that ensued...

Apple MacOS MacBook Pro Hiding my Older Version Logic Pro 10.0.6 Trying to force me to buy again
I paid in 2014 for Logic Pro X 10.0.6 (forced to buy a new copy when my 2012 Logic Pro 9 wasn't allowed on newer versions of MacOS). I have the receipt etc. However, when I try to install from App Store with the same account as the receipt, it only shows $199.99 Buy Now, with no option to install. Constantly trying to force me to buy again. I found a solution!

At 2,000 and climbing - Success Setting Up Environment for Load-testing AWS Jitsi 1000 Video Users - Onward to 5000+ - However Jitsi fails at 650 users standalone all-in-one
I am working on a longitudinal series of projects that heavily involve the use of Jitsi, especially in educational settings. This is for large scale environments that have highly demanding loads, and are intended as Zoom replacements in the USA and worldwide. This is just one of a number of components. Today was great to finally reach the 1,000 simulated video users load test basic baseline. Next goal is 5,000+, and then adding in additional features and still trying to keep it all working on this scale (recordings, transcriptions, closed captioning, intricate chat options, complex permissions managements, file management, and much more). Great things happening!
Building DGPUNET: Democratizing AI Innovation Through Open Source Infrastructure
Over the past several months, I've been working on something that started as a practical necessity but evolved into a philosophical statement about accessibility in AI development. When a startup couldn't get anything better than a pitiful G10 GPU instance from their cloud provider - completely insufficient for the machine learning workloads needed - I realized I had to take matters into my own hands, and home...
Building Education Technology the "Hard Way" (And Why That's Actually the Easy Way)
I've watched countless companies burn through millions (billions in the aggregate) trying to reinvent wheels that already exist. Not long ago, I reviewed a competitor's failed attempt to build what we launched in six weeks and less than $20,000 USD — they spent three years and $30+ million, and they still couldn't deliver. This isn't about being better-funded, or event smarter; it's about the wisdom of understanding a fundamental truth that most of the tech industry refuses to accept: in the 2020s, 90% of what you need has already been built.
Cent OS 8 Linux on Dell XPS 2-in-1
Recently "upgraded" from Cent OS 7 on my Dell XPS 2 in 1 to Cent OS 8. This has a slew of challenges and differences from similar efforts with other distros. This page will be a capture of my notes.
centos decrypt luks "feature only available with HAL" trinity
Trouble decrypting LUKS encrypted device in Cent OS 7 using Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE). Quick notes to address.
