Thoughts on Quantum Computing, "Qomputing", Organic Computing, etc.
We're currently in the period of hybrid-quantum computing, and while regular CPUs have been lagging (trying to compensate with cores, but getting diminishing returns) it is generally continuing the usual Moore's law trending in parallel to the GPU advancements largely driven by AI demands.
Also there have been breakthroughs in organic computing that over time may have potentially incredible impacts as well.
I am also working in non-invasive BCI and similar neurotech and hope over time to incorporate human brain processing as part of multiple approaches to organic computing, but this is still a long way away from practical implementation.
When we can finally figure out the chaos factor of quantum computing (I like to call it "Qomputing" :) ) and transition from hybrid to full "Qomputing", the biggest impact will initially be on privacy, security, and computing freedom.
Generally it is expected that most/all current security encryption will become almost immediately vulnerable, so a whole new race for security and privacy will begin all over again.
We'll be further "thrown back" to a situation more like the mainframe days prior to the PCs of the 80s, where only large countries and organizations will initially be able to afford the Qomputing level of processing power, and the average organization and user will be excluded for a long time, if/until Qomputing can be PC-ified again.
